About me

I paint because I need that space.

My look at art has been built through observation, work and research. I trained in Audiovisual Communication and interpretation. I began to work professionally as an actor, director and playwright, with painting always present in my creative processes. I was born in Olvera, Cádiz, and the south accompanies me in my way of looking and understanding the colour, light, contrasts and intensity of the tones. All this is part of my sensory memory and influences my work, often unconsciously. Another of my influences is the performing arts, where I learned to work with conflict and contradiction, elements that I now try to translate into my painting. I am interested that it reflects that discrepancy that precedes the appearance of a certain harmony. After a lot of trying, making mistakes and starting over, in 2019 I started working as an assistant to Jordi Mollà. At his side, my work as a painter in his atelier in Madrid has also become a trade. My painting is eclectic and feeds on experimentation. I don't follow a definite path. I'm interested in finding out what happens when I change direction, what I discover that I like - and, above all, what I don't - and what happens when an idea takes me to a place I didn't foresee. I paint because I need that space. Unlike other artistic fields in which I work, painting offers me a place of solitude and encounter with myself, a space of my own in which I feel that I have true creative freedom. I am building my language as a painter, and this is also how I transmit it to my students as a university professor, because what interests me most is precisely that process. I'm in no hurry to end the search. Thank you for stepping into this intimate space of exploration.
